I need some ideas on decorating a sunroom, can you help?

To give applicable advice, just a bit more info would be helpful. So, the most I can offer is to ask yourself these questions and then surf accordingly: what's the room going to be used for (lounging, reading, goofing off, nurturing exotic houseplants)? Is this a large scale project (buying all new furniture, tearing down a wall or two) or just a small budget touch up (like your other responder offered in their answer)? Do you have a green thumb that would welcome the addition of some new flowering plants? Visit the sites below to get some direction/inspiration. Or consider Better Homes and Gardens. They published a magazine I believe with the subheading of "Budget Decorating" or something along those lines. See if you can find it at the local library. It had some GREAT very inexpensive decor ideas that I think would look very nice in a sunroom setting. Good luck.

I need decorating advice, with my sunroom, can you help?
My sunroom has 3 windows 70x70 and one window that measures 35x70, are those so small for blinds? What and how should I fix it up, I would like to put my computer in there and make it our office space. Maybe it would be to hot in there for a computer! The sunroom measures 154 inch long and 90 inches wide, hard wood floors, it is a pretty room it just needs tweeking! The windows are double-?? , they look like my other windows in the house! There are two air vents in there as well!

ok, i work for a sunroom company, is this a 3 season room or year round room.. does it have double paned glass?? i dont recomend a computer unless you have a heat/cool unit to keep it cool. we sell rattan furniture, as in sofas, chairs, rockers, ottomans, tables. its really cool on how you can design them. look up our website if you want.... tdbetterlivingsunrooms.com its a bit out of date, but it will give you ideas on our showroom. good luck!! ps im not trying to sell you anything.. just trying to show you what others do. you can go to a sunroom place and look at display pix on other rooms they built. its another way to get ideas on how others design theirs..

Any decorating ideas for a sunroom long not wide?

Hey all, I'm 14 and living in a 3 bedroom house with 5 people. I've shared a room my whole life and yeahh.. I'm getting sick of it. I hope you live in the deep south since sunrooms are not designed as bedrooms. You will need a connection to the houses heating system, since space heaters are not safe for bedrooms. You will also need to cover up some of the glass with drapes for provacy.

Where to buy pink flamingo yard decor?
Do home and garden stores like Home Depot and Lowes have Pink Flamingos? What about places like Hobby Lobby? This is for a fundraiser - Pink Flamingo Flocking. The money raised would go toward an Earthwatch Expedition (http://www.earthwatch.org).

Check this out. http://www.orientaltrading.com/ui/search/processRequest.do?Ntt=flamingo&requestURI=searchMain&Ntk=all&Ntx=mode%2Bmatchallpartial&N=0

Pink Flamingo Yard Decor?
Do home and garden stores like Home Depot and Lowes have Pink Flamingos? What about places like Hobby Lobby? This is for a fundraiser - Pink Flamingo Flocking. I am trying to raise money for an Earthwatch Expedition (http://www.earthwatch.org)

Kmart has them . Saw them today

Do you think lawn art would add value to my home?
I had the front done in a French Classic style and I like it very much. But I've been told by the local patio and outdoor decor company that I need to "spruce" it up a bit. Add a little color. I rather like pink flamingos (they remind me of my time in Africa) but I am also concerned if they will actually add any value. I would need about 250 of them to make a statement, as was suggested by the salesman. My other concern is if they would attract the local hunters. I dare say, many of them don't seem the sober type.

personally i would prefer to see (many)painted wooden cut outs of various disney creatures strategically placed throughout the yard. a few flamingos wouldnt hurt though (i guess). how about one of those inside-out tire planters as well...plastic flowers inside would add perky color year round. at night, a solar cross or two would add a lovely element as well. happy sale!

Pink FLAMINGO tropical WALL HOOKS flamingos home decor
Bring some summer fun into your home with this adorable Flamingo Hooks while getting organized! Hooks are one the hottest home accessory right now because they are so practical. Try them in the pool house for wet suits, in the bathroom for a guest towel, in the bedroom for your pj's, in the kitchen for an oven mitt or in the hall for the dog's leash or keys. The hand-Painted flamingos very detailed on a resin wall plaque and has the words "BELIEVE, HOPE, DREAM " written on the bottom. There is also and added touch of a seashell on each corner. Just hang anywhere you need a little inspiration or organization. Ready to hang with a single nail (not included.) Measures Approx. 4.5"W X 5.5".

Is there anything that would rid caterpillars from around your home(porch)?

Gee, I wish you wouldn't because they become butterflies and pollinate. You obviously have some food source nearby that the caterpillars like. Are they brown and furry? Then you have oleanders or passion vines nearby. Anyway, I have a butterfly garden and get a dozen different kinds of butterflies in my yard. I can tell you for a fact that caterpillers get eaten by wasps. I have about a dozen different kinds of wasps staking out my yard at any given time, too! I'd rather have caterpillars! Ladybugs will eat the eggs and caterpillars when they are tiny. In some states you can buy live ladybugs. Ladybugs also eat aphids which are nasty yellow or black bugs that kill plants. If you buy the ladybugs, just follow the directions on the bag. I think you water down a tree or area where you want to release them and let them do their thing. They are very efficient. Praying Mantis egg sacks are also for sale in some states, but these are freaky looking bugs to many people, so look them up on the internet and see if they disturb you more than caterpillars!

Is there any superstition about having a duck on your porch when you come home?
Never heard of one, but my friend got home and had a duck sitting on your porch and does not live anywhere near a pond or park where a duck might be.

Yes in Wales it's a superstition that means great fortune will befall a person of the household. usually the head of household. It means really a wish they you've longed for will come true.

If a small stray kitten wandered on your front porch and came inside your home, would you take care of it?
    :)

yes then take her to the police

How would you describe the essence of a home(for writing a book)?
How would you describe the essence of a home...how it feels to you, the warmth, the kindness, the love, the comfort? Home is difficult word for me to describe because it is such an essential element looking back at your home, your porch, the sweet lemonade you drank as a little girl... please help me describe the marvelous "home" (for a book) Additional Details OH & thank you:)

when I walked in the door all I could think about is how great beautiful and big this home was when I walked on the porch you could smell the roses from a distance away when you walked in this huge living room you could see a beautiful chandelier and a flat plasma television that takes up the whole wall. If you walk in the any other room they were so big and beautiful each one of them had there own bathroom. The kitchen was just beautiful I cant even describe it! After all, the nice furniture did pay off.

Do you really have to have a match from the same company. Just sew up your own pillows for it. There are people in the newspaper who advertise upholstery.

Looking for information on wisteria? Would you recommend putting in a large pot and sitting it on my sun porch
My sun porch is two stories high. I would think it would be very lovely vineing up the beams on my sun porch? Am concerned about how hot it gets out there in the summer. I had a Alabama Sweet Potato vine out there a couple of summers ago and it did quite well until winter came and the porch door was left open and the frost got it. Loved that Alabama Sweet Potato! Would like to have another.

I love wisteria and have three plants growing over an arbor. Wisteria is not an indoor plant. It can take the heat, but also needs the direct sun. I also do not think that it would make a good "pot" plant as it grows very large and puts down a lot of roots. As wisteria grows, the vines turn to thick, heavy wood. It needs a VERY strong support. During spring and summer, it puts out many new vines. These require continual care and cutting back or your sun porch will become a "jungle room". The vines also can be destructive as they work their way into any little space (they can lift shingles off a roof!). If they were trying to get more sunlight, they might push through any little hole in your sun room. Good Luck!!

IdeaWise: Porches & Sunrooms: Inspiration & Information for the Do-It-Yourselfer
In today's homes, porches and sunrooms offer indoor comfort with all the beauty and charm of nature and the outdoors. A porch or sunroom is a place where we can relax and enjoy all the pleasures of being outdoors without the nuisances of extreme temperatures, rain, or pests.

And no longer are porches and sunrooms purely seasonal spaces suitable for use only on pleasant, mild evenings in certain seasons. New technology in patio doors, skylights, windows, solarium systems, and heating and cooling systems means that today's sunroom or porch is a four-season space. They are just as energy efficient as any other room in the house, and for this reason it's common today for a porch or sunroom to serve as a home office, as a family room, as a regular dining area, or even as a bedroom.

IdeaWise Porches & Sunrooms will show readers how to plan a sunroom or four-season porch that best suits a family's needs, and also how to furnish and decorate that space for maximum enjoyment and usefulness.

    What's your decorating style?
How is your house decorated? Cottage, modern, country, eclectic? Where do you shop for the things in your home? Did you do it yourself or hire a decorator?

My house is a place where guests will feel comfortable and gives them intrigue about who I am.I dig conversation pieces.I have an odd placement of things but still orderly and tidy.I love going to secondhand stores to find knickknacks or lamps or tablecloths.I find the most unique one-of-a-kind things there.I give special attention to the lighting. I do things with Christmas lights like cover them with leaf garlands on the edges by the ceiling of a room or shine them through a bottle collection.Candles are everywhere. And I dig Crystals, rocks and shells.Sometimes colorful, sometimes Earth tones. What about you?

How do you decorate your home? whats your style?
boring question for P&S I realize...but it can tell you alot about a person.... I like antiques, Early American, kinda primitive....but with a lil touch of french country tossed in.....are you still awake? lol

I have contemporary decor and victorian-style furniture. I like paintings, open space, and nautical theme. I'm not too much on clutter and knick-knacks sitting around everywhere. But, I've always wanted a home built sort of like a castle and decorated in the old Renaissance style. I know it's weird, but that's what I like...lol! I also enjoy water fountains and I have a huge saltwater aquarium.

Wanna help me decorate (country style)?
I just moved a few months ago and feel settled in and know I'll be here a long time. It's time to start decorating! I'm starting with the kitchen. The Goal: Country style-- cottage/cabin like, rustic/homey To plan and have the job done no later than July (2 months) To make it really unique, stylish, and very functional The Challenges: - I live in a rented city apartment - Small space - low budget The Assets: - big do-it-yourselver - very artistic, especially with a paint brush Can you give me advice, direct me to good websites and resource? Show me photos of your country home, or "country home" apartment? If anyone is into it, I made an interactive web page with pictures of the existing kitchen, sketches, and interactive polls and guestbooks for your input. I don't wanna spam the board, but if you e-mail me I will send you a link. In these early planning stages, the more input the better. Thanks in advance. I am off to web surf and look forward to replies.

Second hand stores are great for this type of thing, as well as antique malls. I like the whole wagon wheel on the wall idea, it's always gotten my attention. I don't know how closely this might run to shabby chic, but whitewashed pine furniture has always been a nice look, I think. Can be mistaken for New England beach house looking, however.

Online shopping websites for home decorating?
Your Open QuestionShow me another » Online shopping websites for home decorating? I am looking for some websites where I can purchase home decorating products (from furniture to decoration, like candles and cushions!) Something along the lines of the Ikea website would be great (unfortunately most of their items must be bought in store - and I really need home delivery) I am based in Italy, but am from the UK so anything that delivers to either of these countries would be great! All ideas welcome, thanks!
